Net- Art:
8 days / 16 hours. 11– 18 August 2002. Tina La Porta, MFA. Genco Gülan, MA.

The Net-art Workshop aims to make an introduction to net-art in the context of “contemporary art” and “new communication technologies”. Participants will take reference from international examples on the Internet to examine Net-art from a different perspective and thus make their own practices more productive.

The workshop will be on both theoretical and practical levels. Participants will be introduced to programs such as Notepad, Netscape Communicator, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, FTP. In the end a website will be created where all works will be displayed. Participants will also be guided to get in touch with International Net-Art Communities

Tina La Porta is one of the first artists to be accepted into the  Whitney Museum of American Art collection, NY as a Net-artist.
She is an instructor at the NY Institute of Technology and School of Visual Arts.

Genco Gulan has participated in Net-art project Chaos in Action that was exhibited in ‘Centre Pompidou et du Musée National d'Art Moderne’, Paris. Gülan has given seminars on Internet and New Technology at the  New York Institute of Technology and New School University. He is a co-curator at the Alternative Museum, NY.

The workshops will be held in English and Turkish on PC and Mac computers. Participation is limited to 12 persons.There will also be a scholarship given to one of the participants. The skin diving sessions are free for the participants of the digital workshops. Those participating in all of the A or B series will receive a 30% discount for the workshops.

Gumusluk Academy also has housing facilities for 17.50 US$– full pension, including breakfast and lunch.  

All participants will receive a certificate at the end of the workshop. This program is created in collaboration with Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, ISCAM.
