<<Electronic Music

This workshop on electronic music creation will focus on the boundaries and
intersections between sound design and digital music composition and will
illuminate the origins of the new musical movement called "Totalism."
Using both digital and analogue sound as source material with a sensibility
towards the aesthetics of "musique-concrete". Workshop participants will
work with various musical and non-musical tools to explore and create their
own digital sound collages and provide musical soundscapes for the other
workshop projects. All "noises" that are produced during the workshop will
be presented at a final concert/exhibition.

John Plenge is an ASCAP, NYSCA and OBIE award winning songwriter, composer
and sound designer. Past highlights include performances at

3 Legged Dog/ Wooster Group, NYC, (2002) HERE Center for the
Arts NYC, TransCinema (2001), Teatro Carignano, Torrino, Italy (Obie Award

PBS' "Vague Politix"(1994) and Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse of Reason"(1988).

The workshops will be held in English and Turkish on PC and Mac computers. Participation is limited to 12 persons.There will also be a scholarship given to one of the participants. The skin diving sessions are free for the participants of the digital workshops. Those participating in all of the A or B series will receive a 30% discount for the workshops. All participants will receive a certificate at the end of the workshop.

Gumusluk Academy also has housing facilities for 17.50 US$ per day– including bed, breakfast and lunch.
